Biography

George SAKELLARIADIS holds an LLB from the University of Athens; he also holds an LLM degree in Innovation, Technology & the Law, from Edinburgh University and he is a PhD candidate working on the Regulation of the Internet as a Mass Medium of Communication.
He is a partner at his traditional by family law office and he is an Advocate before the Supreme Court. His main sectors of legal practice include consulting and litigating in various fields of mainly commercial and civil law cases; he has been consulting various commercial entities in cases / disputes indicatively related to industrial & intellectual property rights, e-commerce platforms, software development contractual framework and licensing policies, personal data & privacy. As a corporate advocate he has been also advising various key players in the national and international tourism market; he had been initially involved in steering committees for the development of specialized software within tourism sector.
He has appeared as a speaker in various panels and conferences delivering speeches and presentations related to the field of Information Technology Law.

The South EU Google Data Governance Chair focuses on scientific reflection and research in the academic field on Data Governance in the context of European countries. The Chair analyzes the challenges of Law and Data Governance in areas such as Big Data, Data Driven Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and International Flows of Personal Data.
